Introducing Egil, a hidden treasure

Eğil is a small town very close to Diyarbakır city centre (50 km). It is famous for its tombs and ancient ruins, dating back to Asurians. The pictures below reflect some of the historical treasures hidden in the surroundings of this town. In Eğil, you can visit the  tombs of some old Armenian and Asurian Kings as well as the ruins of old castles. The Kralkızı Dam Lake covers some of these ruins but there are still a lot to see. The town also has a religious value because of the tombs of some prophets. Many people go there to send their respect to these prophets and to pray.

The tombs are in rooms connected to one another and these stairs  are passages that connect the rooms. I haven't seen inside but I think you can also go to the castle on top of the hill if you follow the stairs.
